Who is the Person Coach?
I’m Paul Seymour.
I’m the Person Coach and I’ve been training as a coach for as long as I can remember.
As a child I was always creative, and yet at the same time, always frustrated. My stories were never as good written down as they were in my head, my drawings didn’t look right, my hands had let me down where my mind knew what I wanted to see, the games I invented fell down at the slightest test of the rule system and yet I persevered.
Keep writing, keep drawing, keep inventing, keep thinking around the problems and most importantly keep thinking sideways.
It was inherently obvious to me that there was more than one way to skin a cat (no cat’s were actually skinned during my childhood), and so I stood back, cocked my head, thought some thinks and had another go.
This methodology has stayed with me through the remaining 40 years and will continue to do so.
It’s this, along with over a year of training and practice that I want to bring to you.
My timeline
Further education in design solidified my creative thinking, how to have a vision and realise it.
During my years in web development, I capitalised on my lateral problem-solving, moulding the fledgling technology far beyond its perceived capabilities and into stable and viable web products.
As a freelancer, active listening and effective communication were the cornerstones of achieving the clients goals.
In the corporate years, as a leader, the planning and execution of larger scale projects taught me there are many routes from A to B, often via XYZ!
The most exciting aspect of owning and running my cafe was fostering the young talent who worked for me. Through positive reinforcement and trusting in the capabilities of those that didn’t think they could, we created moments of joyful, bustling synergy that stay with me to this day.
The most recent phase of my life has seen me work as a homemaker, managing the household, supporting my wife in her extraordinary career and, through the culmination of all my experience and a heavy dose of empathy, helping to raise 2 brilliant, open, honest children.
Creativity Coaching
In my coaching practice I’ve always gravitated towards creative types: artists, writers, fashion designers, photographers and they to me.
I feel a strong connection with those who have a burning desire to express themselves but perhaps without the confidence or self-belief to share their gifts with the world.
Through our time together I can categorically say each and every one of them has developed a sense of value, not only in what they create but also in themselves. As the working world changes around us, (hybrid working, the rise of A.I., etc) opportunity has arisen for all of us to explore our creative value, and many people are finding there are outlets and modes of expression that allow for creative satisfaction and financial gain.
It’s my mission to unlock the creative potential in all my clients and help them find a place (if desired) to promote and earn from their work.
